Thanksgiving is just around the corner, a time to be with family and friends enjoying conversation, delicious food and good company.
One thing that I have been thinking about is volunteering at a food shelter around Thanksgiving, or volunteering to collect food and deliver them to people’s homes. There are so many wonderful organizations that help out those who have nothing on the holidays.
Mel Trotter ministries is just such an organization that has been helping the homeless community for 115 years by demonstrating the compassion of Jesus Christ by serving meals, offering a place to stay, medical, dental and vision clinics, helping people find jobs and permanent housing and so much more!
This year they will be hosting their 20th Annual Thanksgiving banquet for more than 2,000 people who have nowhere else to go this holiday season. They will have 1,500 pounds of turkey, 300 pies, and all of the traditional sides. This is such a wonderful opportunity for those who are struggling to get back on their feet and are encountering setbacks, this ministry is so encouraging and banquets like this can make such a difference in a person’s life. To make positive connections with others and build bridges toward friendships and find hope because they will know that they are not alone.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter what your plans might be!
